What is your ‘why’ for exercising?
Working out helps to keep my mind calm. Doing exercise or physical activity at that time I think of nothing whilst doing it, it’s a time to push myself and let out todays stresses.
Being active has massively helped me improve myself. Gym has helped me to push myself and whenever I have felt low it has helped with my mental health. There have been days I have walked into that gym wanting to cry, and left it laughing.
What advice would you give to someone around using physical activity to improve their mental health?
Just do it! It will become a second home; a place you go when you feel happy, sad or mad, but it allows you to release all that bad energy.
Have you ever done a workout and felt bad for it after? No. I am not saying it works miracles but I guarantee you, you will feel better when you leave that gym than when you entered it.
